Should President Obama Produce his Birth Certificate

My answer is NO in the most emphatic terms that I can possibly say it in. There is no way that the President and Commander in Chief of this great nation should even acknowledge or much less concede to this accusation. The accusation is that he isnt a natural born American citizen and therefore not the legitimate President of the United States. Now many of you will disagree with what I am about to say but the basis for this accusation but I just call em like I see em.

This accusation is nothing more or less than racism by those who dont want to obey the orders of a black Commander in Chief. This movement is called the birther movement and I am not exactly sure how it got started but the fact of the matter is that it is real. Many of the most outspoken proponents have been military officers. This is rather odd since military officers should understand more than most the ramifications of refusing to obey the orders of a superior. They are supposed to show solidarity behind their commander in the same way that they expect their subordinates to be loyal to them. Unless they can prove that there is a discrepancy in our governments highest office they should obey all lawful orders and encourage their subordinates to do the same. If they have doubts the correct action would be to file the appropriate grievance and let the system work for them. Every officer who has spoken out against President Obama is well aware of this. They are all familiar with the correct protocol.

I have never in my entire life seen so much flagrant disrespect for the office of Commander in Chief of the United States. I didnt see as strong a reaction when one of our past presidents was caught red handed in an adulterous affair, even after he looked the American people in the eye and lied about it on national TV. The people who are present day birthers didnt make an outcry then so there is not one warranted now.

The Governor of Hawaii recently appeared on TV to try to put this nonsense to rest. He publicly certified that the president is in fact an American citizen and does have a valid birth certificate on record in the State of Hawaii. So now I dont see why there is an argument. He is saying that he is seeking some way to make it a matter of public record so that the matter can be put to rest.

I personally believe that no matter what he or anyone else does the birthers will find a reason to maintain their position. People tend to believe exactly what they want to believe and to try to find evidence to support their stance rather than try to find the truth.

There was a recent case where a Lieutenant Colonel in the military refused to deploy with his unit because he maintained that our president is not rightfully the Commander in Chief. He was given a six month sentence which was no more than a slap on the wrist. He obviously plead guilty in order to avoid more time but I believe that since he was a military officer and one who is supposed to set the example he should have been given the maximum punishment possible. The fact that a military officer who is charged with maintaining military order and discipline chose to disobey the orders of the Commander in Chief warranted the maximum punishment without question.

The failure to invoke the maximum punishment sets a bad precedent and makes it more difficult for the rest of the officers corps to maintain the order and discipline of their troops. Military Ring Express
